Description
The database contains data on the taxa planted in the territory of the protected dendrological plantation “Kalsnava Arboretum” with the indicated precise geographical coordinates for each of taxa. Kalsnava Arboretum is a unique dendrological collection created with the main goal - to preserve and enrich the collection of local and foreign tree plants. The establishment of Kalsnava arboretum plantations was started already in 1975 and the current area of Kalsnava arboretum is 148.66 ha. According to the data of the dendrological inventory conducted in 2020, a total of more than 22,000 specimens and groups belonging to more than 2,800 tree and hardy perennial taxa from more than 200 genera have been registered in the territory of Kalsnava Arboretum. A large part of the taxa planted in the Kalsnava arboretum are considered to be the most outstanding specimens of the respective taxon in Latvia due to their wild origin, rarity, excellent acclimatization ability or other reasons. The dendrological collection is regularly supplemented with new plant material. Most of the areas of dendrological plantations belong to the state and this territory of Kalsnava Arboretum is managed by Joint Stock Company “Latvia's State Forests”.

Method step description:
- The taxa included in the database have been identified by certified experts in the field of dendrology. Geographical mapping of each taxa was performed using a Trimble TDC 600 GNSS receiver with <1.5 meter GNSS accuracy.
