Description
The Szczecin Diatomological Collection is part of the Diatomological Unit of the Institute of Marine and Environmental Sciences, University of Szczecin. It was founded in 1996 by Professor Andrzej Witkowski. The Collection contains samples and microscopic preparations of diatoms from all continents and from many unique environments, such as the Galapagos Archipelago and Madagascar. The Collection also includes the Szczecin Diatom Breeding Facility (known as the Szczecin Collection of Marine Diatoms), which aims to collect live specimens, mainly of saltwater species from the littoral zone of various localities, in particular the coasts of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and their marginal seas, and the western Pacific.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 6,612 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Project Data
The aim of the project is to digitize and make available online the resources of Pomeranian herbaria, which will increase access to natural resources. The collected scientific data is addressed to a wide audience – scientific staff, students and pupils, as well as public administration and individual users.
