Description
This dataset contains COI barcodes of Auchenorrhyncha collected throughout Europe and Asia since 2005. Barcodes were generated by Symbiosis Evolution Group, Institute of Zoology and Biomedical Research, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Jagiellonian University. Collected specimens were identified based on morphology and DNA sequence.
Morphological identification was performed by: Lukasik P, Maryanska-Nadachowska A, Michalik A, Mugford S, Stroinski A, Wilson M, Zwolinska A. Sequence-based identification was performed by: Lukasik P, Michalik A, Andriienko V, Kolasa M, Lukasik P, Majewska E, Michalik A, Mulio SA, Sarmiento YCG.
Specimens were collected by: Andriienko V, Chmura J, Dobosz R, Gärdenfors U, Gierlasinski G, Kobialka M, Lindblad T, Lukasik P, Maryanska-Nadachowska A, Michalik A, Mugford S, Mulio SA, Nencioni A, Rosch V, Rutkowski T, Sciban M, Sjöberg F, Stroinski A, Swierczewski D, Szawaryn K, Tylek K, Walczak M, Wilson M, Wozniak A, Zwolinska A.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,449 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

| Funding | The data generation was supported by the National Science Centre of Poland (NCN), grant numbers: 2018/30/E/NZ8/00880, 2021/41/B/NZ8/04526. The dataset was created with support from the project "Polish Node of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility" (DIR-WSIB.92.10.2023.MS), funded by the Ministry of Education and Science program "Support for the participation of Polish research teams in international research infrastructure projects" . |
Sampling Methods
Insects were collected in the field using various methods: Malaise traps, sweep netting, hand collecting, and with aspirators.
| Study Extent | Insects were collected during daytime field visits. |

Method step description:
- Collected specimens were primarily identified based on morphology and preserved in ethanol until further processing. To obtain COI barcode sequences, laboratory and bioinformatic procedures were employed: Wet lab protocol: dx.doi.org/10.17504/protocols.io.36wgq351ylk5/v1 Quality control of laboratory procedures and the bioinformatic pipeline: https://doi.org/10.1101/2024.08.26.609764 Isolated DNA is stored at −22°C for long-term preservation.
